Jon Tan

Biography

 Dr Jonathan Tan completed a Bachelor of Biotechnology at the Australian National University (ANU). He continued PhD studies at the ANU under Professor Helen O�Neill, delineating hematopoiesis of antigen-presenting cells in spleen. After completing his PhD, Jon moved to Kyoto University to take up a Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellowship. There, he worked under Professor Takeshi Watanabe specialising in artificial lymphoid tissue development. In 2011, Jon was awarded a 4 year NHMRC CJ Martin Biomedical Fellowship to conduct research in both Japan and Australia. During this time, he developed an interest in teaching and was lecturer and convenor for the 3rd year ANU Immunology course. In 2015, Jon received an NHMRC New Investigator Project Grant, moving to the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine at Bond University to continue his research in spleen tissue regeneration.

Tissue Regeneration, Stromal Organiser Cells, spleen tissue development, spleen organiser cell identity, lineage origin and developmental potential, and spleen neogenesis.
