Biography
Mic began his career in the Sydney film industry in the early 80s. He worked in both the camera and lighting departments, on many feature films and commercials during those years. He attended North Sydney Technical College's Film and TV course and was awarded the college medal for cinematography. In the late 80s he worked for Prime Television (RVN2) in Wagga Wagga, as the senior director of the studio and outside broadcast unit. The Collis family moved to Brisbane in 1990 and since then Mic has produced, directed and shot hundreds of commercials, corporate documentaries, short films and documentaries for his own company, Silver Wings Films and as a freelancer for other production companies. Recently he has returned to drama production as a camera operator on features and telemovies. He has extensive experience in the use of digital video systems, 16mm and 35mm film cameras. Mic has also taught at the Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney, Bond University, Griffith Film School, Southbank Institute, ACS and QPIX. He is a past President of the ACS (Australian Cinematographers Society � Queensland Branch) and a current member of the ACS federal committee, and is still involved in organising seminars and workshops with local and visiting national and internationally renowned Directors of Photography.
