Biography
Born in England, Robert John Clement is a graduate of St. Thomas’s Hospital Medical School, one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools in the UK. As a junior partner in private practice in Dorset, England, Dr. Clement was strongly persuaded to seek a more fulfilling career outside of England, where the new National Health Service was seen as a disruptive force to the long-held concepts of medical practice. Dr. Clement thus applied for and obtained the position of District Medical Officer (Out-Island Doctor) on Grand Bahama Island, where he would later join Lawrence Burton’s clinic in Freeport. An early investigator in immunology, Lawrence Burton, PhD, was originally viewed with great skepticism by the general medical community of the time, but his work is more widely accepted today, especially for its importance in oncology. Dr. Clement has continued working in GP and oncology, and as Medical Director of the Immune Augmentative Therapy Centre, until his retirement in 2015. Dr. Clement holds a Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (DRCOG), in addition to a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians (LRCP), and he is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).
