Prof. Jenny Davis

Biography

Jenny Davis is a freshwater ecologist who has undertaken projects on freshwater biodiversity and wetland monitoring, management and conservation, in all Australian states and Malaysia (Sarawak). Much of her research is devoted to understanding the critical processes that support the persistence and resilience of freshwater ecosystems in arid and semi-arid environments. Jenny has a PhD and BSc (Hons) from the University of Tasmania, was a Queens Fellow in Marine Science at the University of Western Australia, and held academic positions at Murdoch University, Monash University and the University of Canberra before joining CDU in early 2016. Jenny has published over 200 works, including books, peer-reviewed scientific papers and technical reports. Jenny is co-chair of INTECOL’s Wetland Working Group, a member of the National Committee for Ecology, Evolution and Conservation (NCEEC), the TERN Science Advisory Committee and the EPA Victoria Scientific Advisory Panel (Water SEPP Review). Jenny is a past Chair of the Research Sub-Committees of the Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS), and a past member of the ANZECC Water Quality Guidelines Working Group 2, the WA Wetlands Coordinating Committee (10 years) and the WA Conservation Commission. Jenny has been actively involved in the Australian Society for Limnology and has held the positions of President and Newsletter Editor. Jenny was awarded the Vice-Chancellors Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Supervision at Murdoch University in 2004 and the Limnology Medal for freshwater research in 2006.
