Biography
Associate Professor Steve Shanahan is a long-term University employee. In July 2016, he was appointed to the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor Faculty of Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment. He is also the current Chair of the Charles Darwin University Academic Board, and a member of the CDU Council. Associate Professor Shanahan was initially employed at the University as a Lecturer in Physics. He has been Head of School in various schools of the University since 1992 and in 2002 he became the Dean of the Faculty of Technology. In 2007 he was one of the major architects in the transformation of VET delivery at CDU. This transformation saw the majority of VET delivery shifted out of the faculties into standalone divisions. The divisions later were reformed under the current Faculty of VET. From 2008 to mid-2016 his substantive position was as General Manager, VET Business Improvement. For 15 months during the latter part of this period Associate Professor Shanahan was the acting Pro Vice-Chancellor VET.
