Biography
Following study in a degree in Visual Arts, Suzi was a founding member of the Union Street Design Studio, where she worked for a number of years as a ceramics designer. She began teaching community groups, youth on remand and differently abled students, before teaching at Lismore TAFE. Realising that there was a lot in teaching and that she really enjoyed it, she decided to complete a Graduate Diploma in Education. She has been in Alice Springs at what is now Charles Darwin University for 16 years. Suzi teaches in the arts program to a broad range of students, in the Higher Education program, both remote indigenous and urban delivery. She loves teaching, and particularly working with Aboriginal women who have taught her much about their culture and of a different way of being. Suzi is very involved in arts related activities in Alice Springs, for schools and local galleries and events. She is also a member of the Watch This Space gallery management committee. Her own arts practice is mixed media drawing, printmaking, photography and she regularly exhibits in group and solo shows locally and interstate.
