Biography
Athol Gardiner is a Senior Lecturer Centre for Customs and Excise Studies. He has some 40 years experience in Customs and related border security. He holds a Masters Degree in International Customs Law and Administration and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Athol has worked with AusAID, ASEAN, APEC, the World Customs Organisation, Oceania Customs Organisation, UNDCP, and a number of regional organisations to design and implement Customs modernisation programs and related initiatives. His activities have included a program to develop and implement a comprehensive risk management approach to border control for the Royal Government of Cambodia and Customs reform and modernisation programs in Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste. Athol lectures in the Centre's academic and vocational programs and is engaged with a broad range of related areas of both academic and vocational development.
