Biography
Dr Lesley Hawson studied psychology and neurophysiology at Adelaide University before embarking on a career in human resource management. She attained her Veterinary Degree at the University of Sydney and a post graduate diploma in Animal Chiropractic. After several years in practice she completed a PhD with Professor Paul McGreevy and Dr Andrew McLean. The PhD involved using novel electronic equipment and research techniques to study equine related safety issues, horse biomechanics and communication processes between horse and rider. She has taught a variety of equine science subjects at a tertiary level and is currently lecturing in equine biomechanics and equine exercise physiology at Charles Sturt University. Lesley regularly contributes to lay horse magazines, is an active member of the International Society of Equitation Science and can often be found vetting at Endurance rides. She has presented at national and international conferences and has published papers on several horse related subjects.
