Biography
Geoff is a wildlife biologist broadly interested in spatial ecology and its ramifications for species management. Geoff completed his training at La Trobe University, undertaking research on the spatial ecology of pythons in fragmented rural landscapes (Honours) and the metapopulation dynamics of frogs in urbanising landscapes (PhD). In 2010, Geoff joined the University of Melbourne as a research fellow, using metapopulation viability analyses to quantify the impacts of urbanisation on frog populations, and assess the capacity of wetland management schemes to mitigate those impacts. In 2013, Geoff received a Victorian Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and travelled to the University of York, UK, where he worked on the spatial epidemiology of chytridiomycosis in susceptible amphibians. Geoff's current research interests cover landscape ecology, metapopulation and metacommunity dynamics, niche and life-history shifts in threatened species, biogeography and conservation biology. His primary teaching role is delivery of BIO327, 'Wildlife Ecology and Management'.
