Biography
Gerhard completed his BSc and MSc studies at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, specialising in viticulture. Subsequent to his studies, he conducted wine industry related work experiences in South Africa, Australia, California and New Zealand. Prior to enrolling in his PhD at CSU in August 2013, Gerhard worked as a viticulturist in the coastal regions of South Africa.Gerhard's PhD was aimed at understanding grapevine carbohydrate and nitrogen allocation during berry ripening, with a specific focus on carbon and nitrogen metabolism in source and sink organs. The implications of grapevine water supply and source-sink relations were of further interest. Gerhard will be submitting his PhD thesis by March 2017.
