Gregory Linsdell

Biography

Greg Linsdell is a senior lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security where he coordinates the post graduate Leadership and Management Program. Greg is a former Victoria Police officer with 28 years experience in community policing, investigations and tactical policing. He spent a total of 13 years in the Special Operations Group commanding many high risk incidents and has a particular interest in the policing of critical incidents, disasters and other emergencies including terrorist attacks. In 2011 Greg was seconded to the United Nations to manage training in transnational crime at the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation, Indonesia, and in 2010 and 2012 he was the Program Director on an 8-week professional development program for 120 Superintendents at the Indian National Police Academy, Hyderabad.

Research Interest

His research has included an examination of the emergence of private policing in Australia, case studies of the command and control of emergencies, and training for critical incidents as well as for police training more generally. He has also published articles and book reviews on police corruption, uncertainty in policing and the role of police in emergency planning. Greg is currently researching emergency management decision making for his PhD
