Biography
Dr Kelly Spuur's most recent appointment at Charles Sturt University is as Senior Lecturer in Medical Imaging and Program Leader for the Graduate Diploma of Mammography. Kelly has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) her thesis entitled : Mammography: the Pectoral Muscle and Image Quality Evaluation, a Bachelors Degree in Applied Science (Medical Imaging), a Diploma of Health Science (Medical Imaging) and holds an Advanced Breast Imaging Certificate (ABIC) and a Certificate of Clinical Proficiency in Mammography (CCPM) through the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR). Kelly has specialised research and teaching interests in breast imaging. She remains clinically current and has over twenty years of clinical experience in both diagnostic and screening mammography settings and a broad interest in all modalities across the medical radiation sciences. Kelly trained at Westmead and Manly District Hospitals in Sydney qualifying in 1988 before relocating to private practice in Wagga Wagga where she progressed to senior management. During this time she also spent fourteen years collaboratively working with BreastScreen NSW South West. Kelly developed a keen interest in clinical education and teaching as a clinical educator for the BreastScreen Breast Imaging Clinical Education Program (BICEP). This combined with a number of years of part time lecturing at Charles Sturt University progressed moving to full time academia in 2008. Kelly has also held academic appointment at CQUniversity where she was Senior Lecturer and Head of Program for the Bachelor of Medical Imaging and the Bachelor of Medical Sonography programs in their inaugural year. She remains Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University, supervising research students in the area of breast imaging.
