Ken Probert

Biography

Ken Probert has been with CSU since April 2009. He was a police officer in Sussex Police in the UK for 27 years retiring in March 2009. He graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Southampton University in 1977, and a Master of Science in Crime and Policing from the University of Portsmouth in 1992. The majority of Ken's police career was spent within the Criminal Investigation Department where he served in all ranks up to Detective Chief Superintendent where he spent twelve years as a Senior Investigating Officer with responsibility for major crime cases. As an operational commander, he has also served at a local area command and was an accredited firearms and critical incident commander. He also served for a time as the Chief of Staff to the Chief Constable. During his final three years, he was the Head of Professional Standards Department with responsibility for the investigation of all complaints, misconduct and crime allegations against police officers and police staff. Whilst at the School of Policing, Ken has been an ADPP subject and session coordinator as well as the Associate Head of School at the School of Policing Studies with responsibility for all staff and student issues. He was appointed Head of School in 2016.
