Biography
He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS) in 2000 and received an advanced oral surgery training (PGT) from 2001- 2002. After that he completed his PhD from Geriatric Dentistry (oral cancer), School of Dental School, Hokkaido University, and Japan in 2007. Then he achieved a postdoctoral award from the "Center for Excellence" Japan and worked from 2007-2008 in the Cancer Related Gene, Institute of Genetic Medicine, Hokkido Japan. After that, he achieved prestigious postdoctoral award from the "Japan Society for Promotion of Sciences" and worked in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Biopathology, Okayama University, Japan from 2008-2010. He worked as a post-doctoral research officer under Professor Gary Halliday and A/prof. Guy Lyon in the Dept. of Dermatology, RPAH, The University of Sydney from 2011-2013. He is working as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science, School of Dentistry and Health Science, Charles Sturt University from March 2013 to present. Within his 13 years research and academic experience, he has been awarded five international awards, one each in Spain, Australia, and USA, China and Japan and five regional awards within Japan. He has published approximately 30 international peer reviewed papers and one book chapter. Within his research career, he has achieved two renowned Japan Government grants. Dr Hassan is an active member of various international and national societies (IADR, JCA, JAMOS, MEPSA, COSA etc.).
