Paul Humphries

Biography

Paul is an ecologist, specialising in the study of rivers and the relationship between flow and fish and macroinvertebrates. His research has included the study of the life history of several species of freshwater fish in southeastern Australia, community dynamics and habitat use of fish in estuaries in Western Australia, flow-related aspects of the ecology of fish and macroinvertebrates in Tasmania and the Murray-Darling Basin and the history of change in river ecosystems worldwide. His current research interests include: the history of environmental change in freshwater ecosystems; river ecosystem concepts; the ecology, dispersal and recruitment processes associated with the early life history of fishes; zooarchaeology and palaeoecology.
