Phillip Ebbs

Biography

Before taking up the role of Senior Lecturer in Paramedicine, Mr Ebbs worked for 14 years with one of the world's largest ambulance services, NSW Ambulance, as a paramedic and senior manager. He attained the rank of Superintendent in 2009, and spent 12 months as an Acting Assistant Commissioner in 2014. He has been a member of NSW Ambulance Incident Management Teams for a number of operations including the Lindt Cafe Siege and the devastating April 2015 Hunter storms. The first time Mr Ebbs travelled in an ambulance was during a two week volunteer placement in Papua New Guinea (PNG), where he was able to travel with a local team that delivered treatment to children in the impoverished settlements just outside of Port Moresby. Since then he has worked as a paramedic, an educator and a manager with NSW Ambulance – even completing a short stint on helicopters in New Zealand as part of a paramedic exchange program. During his career Mr Ebbs specialised in the field of clinical governance, particularly focusing on the development of clinical performance reporting and improvement frameworks. Mr Ebbs considers his involvement with world leading Stroke, Mental Health, Cardiac, Trauma and Extended Care Paramedic programs to be a highlight of his professional career. He was a Director of the Australian College of Ambulance Professionals (NSW Branch), and he continues to serve as Deputy Chair of the Clinical Council, NSW Clinical Excellence Commission.
