Biography

I joined Charles Sturt University in May 2010. This followed an extensive police career spanning 30 years as a Police Officer in South Yorkshire Police in the United Kingdom. Following my retirement in the rank of Chief Inspector from South Yorkshire Police in January 2008, I was employed by the Education Department (Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council) in the capacity of: Assistant Head of Year 11 Kirk Balk Secondary School (High School) Hoyland, Barnsley. This involved working with children aged between 11 years and 16 years. For the very first time in July 2010 not one student left Kirk balk school without a recognised qualification. In November 2009 I moved on from the position at Kirk Balk School to take another opportunity within the Local Authority as:The Family Intervention Project Manager. This role exposed me to partnership working, in an effort to break down the cycle of families persistently offending and involved in anti social behavior. This was piloted in Barnsley and received Government recognition - requiring me to attend national anti social behavior conferences and present the work. The role also provided greater exposure to dealing with Anti Social Behaviour and coordinating the work of other agencies under the ambit of a Family Intervention contract.
