Biography
Dr Kennedy trained as a pharmacist at The University of Queensland and finally graduated with a PhD in Pharmaceutics. He was a part-time lecturer in Pharmaceutics there, until moving to The University of Sydney as lecturer in Pharmaceutics late in 1990. It was there his research interest in the application of gel-forming polysaccharides as a means to control drug release developed. Dr Kennedy moved to Charles Sturt University in February 1997 as co-ordinator of the Pharmacy course. He currently teaches in three undergraduate subjects, but has also been instrumental in developing the concepts behind many of the other subjects in the Pharmacy curriculum at Charles Sturt University. Dr Kennedy's research interests have extended to include the study of selected aspects of some dose forms used for over-the-counter medicines and the interactions between selected polymers and surfactants used in personal care products. He is currently involved in a collaborative project with staff from the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences (at CSU) and a current PhD student (from the School of Biomedical Sciences) on the formulation of a veterinary product. He has also supervised honours and other PhD students at Charles Sturt University.
