Biography
Sosheel holds a Master's degree in Economics and is pursuing a PhD at CSU. His PhD research is on domestic informal fresh unpackaged milk value chains in Pakistan. He applies value chain analysis to study specific cases, using quantitative and qualitative methods. These chains provide livelihood to thousands of middle men and retailers who link small dairy farmers operating at low profits at one end with unsatisfied consumers at the other end. The aim is to identify the issues that affect dairy industry competitiveness and recommend remedial policy measures. Prior to commencing higher studies, Sosheel worked in the development sector for almost eleven years. He started his professional career by working as Assistant Economic Advisor with the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad and coordinated bilateral development assistance projects for six year. He then worked for Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and successfully coordinated implementation of an Australian government funded program for mango, citrus and dairy industries in Pakistan for four years.
