Biography
Thorwald was born in Hamburg, Germany. He is married to Jill and has two children and seven grandchildren. Educated in Germany, Australia and Switzerland, Thorwald spent three years teaching in New Testament in the USA. He served more than twenty years as Professor of Systematic Theology and Social Ethics at the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Rüschlikon, Switzerland. For two decades he has been active in the Human Rights Commission of the Baptist World Alliance and Senior Minister of the Canberra Baptist Church (1995 - 2005). In official retirement from professional life, Thorwald is Professor of Theology and Principal Researcher at Charles Sturt University. He lectures regularly at St Mark's Theological Centre and at Whitley College, University of Melbourne.
