Biography
Steve conceived the idea for Close the Loop in 1999, and turned it into a stand alone business in early 2001. As CEO of Close the Loop for the first 6 years, Steve developed the original, game changing business model of a co-operative, voluntary, multi-vendor, producer responsibility collection and recycling program for toner and inkjet cartridges. Steve worked with Planet Ark to co-create the highly successful ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ program, perhaps Australia’s most successful ewaste recycling program to date. Steve is currently an Executive Director of Close the Loop Ltd, Close the Loop Inc (USA), and all related entities and is responsible for innovation, R&D and IP. The inventor of 6 patented processes related to recycling and materials recovery technologies for toner and ink cartridges, Steve is an energetic entrepreneur who believes, as in nature, there is no such thing as ‘waste’. Steve was a finalist in the 2011 ‘”Entrepreneur of the year” awards, a past winner of a Victorian Enterprise Workshop “Award of Excellence”, and has guided Close the Loop to several other awards and commendations including the 2006 UN Environment Day awards for innovation.
