Biography
Professor. Edward Byrne, AO, is Non-Executive Director of Cochlear Limited since July 1, 2002. He has been Vice Chancellor of Monash University from July 2009, Board member of Neurosciences Victoria Limited. He is former executive Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Vice Provost and Head of the Medical School at University College, London. He was also Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University, Melbourne from 2003 to 2006).
Research Interest
He acted as Director of BUPA, Neurosciences Australia Limited, the Baker Medical Research Institute, Burnet Medical Research Institute, Prince Henry’s Medical Research Institute, Southern Health, and Mental Health Research Institute. He is Member of the Nomination Committee; Chairman of the Medical Science Committee; and Member of the Technology and Innovation Committee.
