Former Dean of University of Sydney's Sydney Medical School, Head of Medicine at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital and Head of Cancer Genetics Laboratory at the Kolling Institute for Medical Research. Currently Chair of the National Health and Medical Research Council and Chair of the Medical Benefits Schedule Review Taskforce since 2015. External director of MaynePharma since 2014 and QBiotics and Firefly since 2015.
