Dr Greg Wilson

Biography

I am a Solar Energy Specialist with over 15 years research experience, Research Group Leader for Solar Energy Systems and Principal Research Scientist for Next Generation Photovoltaics in CSIRO Energy. I was the 2010 Winner, QUT Faculty of Science and Technology, Outstanding Young Alumni of the Year and the 2015 OCE Julius Career Awardee in Energy. I am a member of the Editorial Board for several journals in the solar energy and materials chemistry fields and a regular peer reviewer in high impact international science journals including Chem. Comm., Journal of Materials Chemistry.As Research Group Leader for Solar Energy Systems I am fortunate to manage the largest solar research effort within CSIRO consisting of over 40 FTE / 34 full-time engineers and scientists bringing together a multi-disciplinary research group of mechanical and software engineers, optical and device physicists, material and physical chemists, chemical process and electrical engineers. Primarily a connector and integrator, I work closely with eminent Science Leaders as part of the well-known CSIRO ‘Solar Group’ which is recognised internationally for our Concentrated Solar Thermal/Power and Photovoltaics leadership. Through our common mission in Solar R&D, I am empowered to deliver day-to-day operational and capability management for our $11.9M Solar Portfolio including significant client projects within the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the Australian Solar Thermal Research Institute (ASTRI).
