Biography
"I moved with my family to Australia, Bundaberg in 2004 from the UK where I had worked as a RN for 20 years in many different roles. I have enjoyed a very varied nursing career covering 30 years. Areas I have had the pleasure to work in are sub acute, community, rehabilitation, elderly care, General Practice, Chronic Disease Management and Respiratory Care. My passion is Chronic Disease Management specifically within the realm of Respiratory Care. I completed my Masters in Nurse Practitioner Studies specialising in Chronic Disease Management in 2008 whilst working as a Practice Nurse in Bundaberg. Whilst in this role I was involved in audit and research which was published. Over the last few years I have worked within the public system with Respiratory clients to assist in their management and look at how to reduce length of stay and re admissions. I developed a model of care and set up a Nurse Practitioner Clinic in order to assist in management and support for this group of clients. It was a great achievement to be able to do this and the outcomes demonstrated that this did have positve effect. I also continued looking at quality improvements to assist in improving client care. Over my long career I have been involved in Life Long Learning and always encourage personal developement. I enjoy teaching and learning and I am very excited to be part of your journey."
