Biography

Linda is a Lecturer in the School of Education and the Arts based at the Gladstone Marina campus. She coordinates the Science units in the undergraduate and postgraduate Primary and Early Childhood Education courses and she has won Student Voice Awards for high student satisfaction ratings. Linda has developed the STEM Education and Engagement Unit for the Bachelor of Education (Primary) course. Linda has a broad range of successful teaching experiences in primary, secondary and tertiary education. She has been the Institutional Team Leader for CQUniversity on the OLT project It’s part of my life: Engaging university and community to enhance science and mathematics education and she is also a Research Higher Degree Supervisor. Linda supervises pre-service teachers on practical placement and she has a passion for STEM education and engagement. Linda has been awarded two CQUniversity Engagement Opal Awards. She works with industry, community groups and local schools to improve STEM outcomes across all sectors. Linda won the 2016 Women in STEM Research Prize for her work with schools on science education and engagement events. She is enthusiastic about science education and committed to improving the quality of STEM learning experiences at all levels of education from pre-Kindergarten right through to post graduate. Linda is the STEM Education Officer for CQUniversity on the QSEN (Queensland STEM Education Network) and she has a keen interest in professional development for teachers.

Research Interest

STEM and science education for pre-service teachers and educators at all levels including early childhood, primary, secondary and higher education.
