Biography
"Dr Jane Truscott is a nurse practitioner and academic originally qualified and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the United States. Since moving to Australia in 2003, she has held a variety of leadership, management and advanced and extended practice clinical roles. As a nurse practitioner with a broad base of clinical and leadership experience, her scope of practice includes acute and chronic health care management for children, adults and older persons. Jane is currently working as a nurse practitioner for Aspen Medical in the provision of field medical services to the Australian Pacific LNG project and Origin Energy Coal Seam Gas (CSG) operations sites in rural Western Queensland. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, this involves working as a sole practitioner on a rural camp site providing primary health care services and health promotion for construction site personnel. She is an educator working with various universities in undergraduate nursing and post-graduate nurse practitioner education and curriculum development. Jane has recently been appointed to the Nursing and Midwifery panel of assessors for the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). She is Chair of the Board of Directors for Rural Lap and previous Chair of NAHRLS, which has given her the opportunity to provide leadership regarding governance, policy and industrial relations matters. She is a clinical assessor with the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and previous advisor to the Queensland Health, Quality and Complaints Commission. She is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Aspen Medical providing expert advice and recommendations regarding clinical practice matters. She previously provided consultancy to the Remote Area Health Corps in the development of eLearning strategies and clinical governance systems and policy."
