Biography
"I graduated from BSW in 2004, since this time I have worked in both government and non-government agencies/services, in Britain and regional Queensland. I have predominately practiced in the areas of youth and families including areas of child protection, family work, youth justice, youth at risk of homelessness and adolescent development. My areas of interest are working alongside women, young people and cross cultural practice. I have held positions in education both for James Cook University and Queensland Health, and am now proud to call Central Queensland University my 'career home'. I'm committed to continuous development of my educative framework, and enjoy this immensely. I believe regional universities are vital to the Australian educational landscape, and provide invaluable avenues for training and development to students located in metropolitan, regional and rural locations. I am an active social justice advocate and believe my practice framework is deeply entwined in this value. Social Work is an essential profession in the process of decreasing structural oppression and creating positive change for all members of our national and international communities; so that all people have the opportunity to meet their potential and live safe, fulfilling, just lives.
