Biography
"William Guo is currently professor of computing and mathematics at CQUniversity. He served as the Dean of School of Engineering and Technology from Jan 2014 to Jan 2015 and was the Deputy Dean of School from Feb 2013 to Jan 2014. His strong leadership during the time, particularly in 2014 as the Dean, guided the School to the success of professional re-accreditation of CQU IT Programs by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) for another five years, and his strategic vision helped the University's plan and investment of Engineering Program Expansion to Gladstone, Bundaberg, Mackay, and Cairns from 2015. He has put a great effort on establishing long-term partnership with Chinese institutions. During this time of management in 2013-2014, he also taught engineering calculus and advanced engineering mathematics and applications to over 300 engineering students. His great effort on delivery high-quality learning outcomes was rewarded by students with ""Commendation of Students Voice"" in Term 1 2014 (MATH12222). He is also a CI of a Category 2 Research Grant from November 2013 to March 2015. He was the Lead Editor of an special issue ""Intelligent Techniques for Simulation and Modelling"" with Mathematical Problems in Engineering published in 2014 (SCI-Indexed with Impact Factor 1.082). He also (co-)authored 7 journal papers during the time, including Neurocomputing, Journal of Systems and Software, International Journal of Systems Sciences. He also produced a textbook “Advanced Mathematics for Engineering and Applied Sciences†published by Pearson in 2014. William received his PhD from The University of Western Australia in 1999. He has been a faculty member at Edith Cowan University (2001-2007) and Central Queensland University (2007-). His teaching activities over the past 13 years have covered multiple disciplines, including data structures and algorithms analysis, computational intelligence, distributed system, digital forensics, research methods, and engineering mathematics. His research interests include computational intelligence and applications, image processing, bioinformatics, optimization, modelling and simulation. He has published more than sixty papers in international journals, edited books and conference proceedings."
