Biography
Professor Juodkazis received his doctorate in experimental physics and material science jointly from Vilnius University (Lithuania) and Lyon-I University (France) in '98. From then on, he held previous tenured positions at the Universities of Tokushima and Hokkaido in Japan. He has contributed to development of a three-dimensional femtosecond laser micro-fabrication for opto-fluidic, optical memory, and photonic crystal applications. His research is focused on the mechanisms and applications of light-matter interactions in the case of tightly-focused laser pulses/beams, e.g., laser-tweezing and opto-mechanical manipulation in soft-matter (gels, liquid crystals, molecular solutions), laser ablation and bulk structuring by laser-induced micro-explosions. He is author of 220 peer-reviewed journal papers, reviews, several book chapters.
