On the academic side, Brian Heterick am an associate lecturer and assist in other academic supervision and demonstrating as required. Brian Heterick research background is primarily taxonomic and my special area of interest is the taxonomy of ants. However, Brian Heterick have also published in the areas of biodiversity and insect ecology
Research Interest
My main current focus is the systematics of the important Australian ant genus Melophorus, for which I received a competitive ABRS grant in 2012. I am involved with several collaborators including an early career scientist who is looking at the genetics of Melophorus. Other work is mainly focsued on providing ant inventories for various consultants and organisations. My quieter moments are spent curating and upgrading the large departmental Ant Collection held in the Environmental Biology Department.
