Biography
Associate Professor McKenna has had an oscillating career in both the business and academic sectors in Europe, North America and Asia. He has researched internationally mobile professionals for many years and his current areas of interest include international mobility of professionals; global human resource management and organizational development (global careers, talent management and leadership); comparative ethical human resource management; career transitions of elite athletes; management in the International Development sector and flexible working practices. He has collaborations ongoing with academics in the UK, France, Australia, Brazil, Finland and Columbia. He has been a director of postgraduate management programmes in the UK, New Zealand and Canada and in his commercial career, worked in both international corporate environments and entrepreneurial start-ups. He sits on the editorial boards of Personnel Review, Critical Perspectives on International Business and the Journal of Organizational Efficiency. Steve has published his work in the Journal of Business Ethics, Organization, British Journal of Management, Human Resource Management Review, International Journal of Human Resource Management and Management International Review, among others. He teaches across a diverse range of areas including global human resource management, strategic HRM, organization development, international management and qualitative research methods. Steve has a doctorate from the University of Warwick in the UK and is a keen sportsman, enjoys the gym, mountain biking. He is a big follower of rugby union and cricket.
