My involvement in providing clinical support to the students while completing their placement in the operating suite stimulated my interest in education. I completed a Bachelor Degree, majoring in education and community health nursing. After arriving in Australia I was appointed to coordinate the Anaesthetic and Perioperative course at the University of Melbourne. I completed a Master of Education degree and PhD focusing on instrument design and measurement of nursing competencies using Item Response Modeling. I have publishing and presenting my work nationally and internationally. I hold an honorary research position at Peter MacCallum and School of Health Sciences, The University of Melbourne. My current research interest includes cultural competence, nursing education, postoperative adverse events related to chronic medications and pressure injuries in surgical patients.
