Biography
Ashleigh Qama is a research assistant in epidemiology within the WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in neuroscience and pharmacology in 2014 at the University of Melbourne, and is currently completing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Deakin University. She is experienced in both laboratory and clinical research. Ashleigh has an interest in infectious diseases, First Nations health, global health and community-based research projects. Ashleigh is currently collaborating with clinicians from the Menzies School of Health Research to analyse data relating to viral hepatitis in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with the aim of guiding public health and clinical approaches to reduce the burden of viral hepatitis in these communities. She is also a part of the Hepatitis C Mapping Project: Estimates of Chronic Hepatitis.
