Biography
Dr Renée van der Sluis is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Lewin/Cameron laboratory. Renée obtained her PhD from the University of Amsterdam in the laboratory of Professor Ben Berkhout at the Amsterdam Medical Centre. Renée moved to Melbourne to become part of the DC Immunomodulation team in the Lewin/Cameron laboratory in October 2013. The DC Immunomodulation group focuses on understanding how HIV hides in T cells and how the interaction of this T cell with other immune cells affects the virus. They isolate different immune cells from uninfected blood donors, study how the cells interact with each other and determine if this pushes the virus into hiding or perhaps does the reverse, that is, kicks HIV out of its hiding place.
