Biography
Dr Shivani Pasricha obtained her Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree, majoring in Genetics and Psychology from the University of Melbourne. She was then employed as a Research Assistant under Professor Phil Batterham at the Bio21 Institute. Broadly, her research involved characterising the developmental and adaptive roles of cytochrome P450s (enzymes involved in xenobiotic detoxification and the production of many hormones) in Drosophila melanogaster. Shivani then went on to complete her PhD in the Genetics Department at the University of Melbourne. The objective of her PhD was to identify differences between nonpathogenic and pathogenic growth forms of the opportunistic fungus, Talaromyces marneffei.
