Biography
Dr Anita Patel was born in Tanzania and is of Indian parentage. She immigrated to Australia at the age of four and was educated at Ascham school in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. She graduated from Sydney University in 1989. After spending three years working as an intern and resident at the Repatriation General Hospital, Concord, Dr Patel obtained a Master of Medicine degree through research of skin cancer immunology at Sydney University. Before commencing her specialist dermatology training, Dr Patel spent a year working in and exploring the Northern Territory. Her work there included communicable disease control with an HIV/STD unit. Dr Patel then returned to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to commence postgraduate training in dermatology, which she completed at the Prince of Wales Hospital in 1997.
Research Interest
Dr Patel’s interest include treatment of acne, sun damaged skin, paediatric dermatology, laser and cosmetic dermatology.
