Biography
Dr. Islam is a Lecturer in Computing and Security Sciences in the School of Science performing teaching and research role in the area ofimage processing, computer vision and artificial intelligence. He has recently obtained two grants for which he is looking for a Masters or PhD student to be appointed as a Research Assistant. Dr Islam completed his PhD with Distinction from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2011. He developed efficient detection and recognition algorithms for human recognition from their 2D and 3D ear and face images. He has published more than 45 research articles and got eight public media releases. He has around eight years of teaching and research experience at six different universities in three different countries. He obtained 10 competitive research grants (total funding of $402,937) and co-supervised to completion seven honours and postgrad students. He is serving as Associate Editor of 12 international journals, Technical Committee Member of 22 conferences and regular reviewer of 25 journals and 22 conferences.
