Biography
Gene holds the special distinction of having been the first person hired by David Melvin soon after Melvin Engineering was established. With almost 20 years of service, Gene has applied his engineering expertise to a variety of projects and is recognized by clients for his humor and problem-solving approach to challenging issues. In addition to general administration and oversite, his demonstrated leadership and success in design, plans production, contracts, and project management uniquely qualify Gene as the resident expert for all transportation-related projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering with honors from the University of Florida, an Associate of Arts degree Cum Laude from Chipola College and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Florida. Gene works closely with the Florida Department of Transportation, District 3, in addition to several local government entities throughout the Northwest Florida region. Gene's commitment to uphold and integrate excellent character is reflected in his work ethic, service to community, and his family. Recent recognitions of his character include the qualities of Loyalty, Thriftiness, and Joyfulness. Gene and his wife, Kim, are the parents of three children.
