Biography
Dr Giles joined CiiiD in February 2016 as a clinician-scientist and performs research on the mucosal immunology of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), particularly the role of type I interferons and their influence on the adaptive immune system and microbiome of the intestine. At the same time, Dr Giles has an appointment as a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at the Monash Children’s Hospital of the Monash Health network, where he is lead for paediatric IBD and has established a specific clinic for young adult patients with inflammatory bowel diseases in close collaboration with Dr Greg Moore, head of adult IBD at Monash Health. This is a unique clinical service in Victoria and is modelled on a clinic Dr Giles ran jointly in the UK.
