Mahtab Mirmomeni

Biography

Mahtab is a Software Engineer and project manager at IBM research Australia. She has over 10 years of experience as a professional Software Engineer in industry, with deep expertise in web technologies, combined with over 3 years of experience in healthcare research. She leads projects at the intersection of Watson technologies, Healthcare and Oncology with a current focus on IBM's Watson for Oncology. Mahtab's current research is focused on analysing data from wearable sensors for improving individual's health and well-being. She is also doing her PhD in this area at the University of Melbourne. Her previous research focus was Bioinformatics/Genomics, having done a master's thesis in bioinformatics and having gained hands on experience as a bioinformatician at the VLSCI, The University of Melbourne, followed by her role as a Software Engineer at the Genomics research team in IBM research. Mahtab is a women in technology activist and is passionate about attracting more females to computing and technology. She is the founder of the Women in Technology (WIT) society at the University of Melbourne and was nominated as a finalist at the 2016 ARN Women in ICT awards for her contributions to the Women in ICT community in Australia.
