Biography
Dr. Marie Magnusson is a Research Fellow in the College of Science and Engineering with over 10 years of experience in the fields of algal biology, biochemistry, and product development. Marie is Program Leader at the Centre for Macroalgal Resources and Biotechnology (MACRO) at JCU, in an industry partnered project with MBD Ltd. Research Interest
Her research is focused on ways to utilize algae (macro and micro) and algal extracts for the development of human food and nutra- and pharmaceutical products for improved health outcomes, and for biotechnology products based on algal polysaccharides with unique gelling and functional properties.
