Biography
Bruce returned to his home country of Australia in January 2016 as Managing Director, Janssen Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), after serving as President of Janssen Japan for three years. In Japan, he launched a number of innovative medicines in areas of high unmet medical need. His inclusive management style and commitment to people development were central to the recognition of Janssen Japan as a company that encourages the inclusion of women in the workforce and a healthy work-life balance by Nikkei Woman in 2015. Bruce also served for two years as Vice Chair of a Japan-based executive committee of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and played a key role in advocating for policies that support timely and affordable access to innovative medicines. Before relocating to Japan, Bruce was Managing Director of Janssen ANZ for three years, after serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Janssen ANZ, where he built a strong record in talent management and building greater organizational capabilities that helped accelerate the development of key talent. While he was Managing Director of Janssen ANZ, he was a board member of Australia’s pharmaceutical industry body, Medicines Australia. Bruce’s career with Johnson & Johnson spans 30 years and includes experience across four countries and multiple functions. He has held Management Board positions in Sales & Marketing and in Finance as well as having gained valuable experience in Business Development and global portfolio management. His service with Johnson & Johnson outside of his home country, Australia, includes postings to Janssen Japan, Janssen Belgium and Janssen United Kingdom. Bruce was born and raised in Sydney and holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Macquarie University and a Master’s of Business Administration, from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
