Biography
Dr Aline Jaeckel is a Research Fellow at Macquarie Law School where she is a recipient of the Macquarie University Research Fellowship (MQRF). Her work focusses on the regulation of deep seabed mineral mining in areas beyond national jurisdiction. In particular, her research examines environmental protection standards and mechanisms in the context of deep seabed mining. Previously, she has worked with the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany, for a project on ecological parameters for deep seabed mining.

Natural resources; emerging industries; deep seabed mining; international organisations; international environmental law; law of the sea; cross-disciplinary approaches to environmental challenges.
