Biography
As the Academic Director of Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) for the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University, Dr Anne-Louise Semple provides leadership in work integrated learning (WIL) through strategy, management, learning and teaching, and research. Drawing on her background in geography, her approaches to this have been based on understanding, and engaging with context. This has resulted in diverse research, publications, and adaptable curriculum resources - most recently those focused on ethics and ethical practice for WIL, and reflective practice. She is responsible for a Faculty-based unit which involves teaching WIL in a way that can be relevant to all science disciplines. Her stewardship of multi-disciplinary collaboration has led to the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Programs that Enhance Learning, in addition to receiving Faculty Learning and Teaching Awards. Anne-Louise has worked in higher education for almost two decades – gaining experience from 5 universities in 3 countries, in both professional and academic roles.
