Biography
Anthony has taught at Macquarie University since the beginning of 2003. He was the convenor of Higher Degree Research in Critical and Cultural Studies from 2004-2009 and currently edits the journal NEO: Journal of Higher Degree Research in Social Sciences and Humanities. In 2009 he received the Dean's Award for service to Higher Degree Research (2007-2009). Anthony is co-editor of the book Diasporas of Australian Cinema (Intellect, 2009) and has recent publications in M/C, Crime Media Culture, Metro and Space and Culture. He has an interest in all things Australian and from 2006-2008 looked at the public responses to the Schapelle Corby drugs trial. He is currently investigating the nexus between cinema and social policy in Australia during the Howard era, and has recently become editor-in-chief of the internationally refereed journal Studies in Australasian Cinema.
Research Interest
Anthony has served on various department, Faculty and University committees and working groups including Marketing and Outreach, Student Experience and the University Handbook working party. He also acts as academic advisor for Critical and Cultural Studies. Anthony convenes and lectures in courses on Visual Culture, Australian Cultural Studies, and Cultural Studies Methodologies.
