Biography
Dr Bénédicte André's work focuses on the literary representations of islandness in novels and short stories from Guadeloupe, Reunion and New Caledonia. She has a special interest in interdisciplinary research, more specifically in combining literary criticism, ethnography, cultural geography and sociology. Her current projects examine the role and place of literature in the broader field of Island Studies. Bénédicte's academic qualifications include a PhD in French Studies, a First Class Honours in French Studies, a Graduate Diploma of Education (LOTE French and TESOL) and a Bachelor of Arts, all of which were awarded by The University of Western Australia.
