Biography
Professor Leonie Tickle conducts research on mortality modelling and forecasting. She has published well-cited papers in top-tier actuarial and demographic journals including Annals of Actuarial Science, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, Population Studies and Demographic Research; has been awarded the H.M. Jackson and A.M. Parker research prizes of the Australian Actuaries Institute; and has been chief investigator on external grants investigating longevity basis risk, impact of health status on mortality, Indigenous mortality, and longevity forecasting. Leonie's teaching has been recognised by two Macquarie University awards as well as a national Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council. Leonie is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and has served on Institute of Actuaries of Australia committees on experience analysis, education, leadership and research, and on the International Actuarial Association Education Committee. She is currently interim Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) of the Faculty of Business and Economics.
