Biography
I have studied Sociocultural Anthropology in Münster, Paris and Hamburg. While doing my masters at the University of Hamburg, I also worked as a scientific assistant at the Museum of Anthropology in Hamburg and as a consultant for the GTZ (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) in Frankfurt. For my doctorate, I carried out a two and a half year field research (1999-2002) on cultural spatiality in Karen and Hmong communities in Northwestern Thailand.
Research Interest
I am a senior lecturer in Sociocultural Anthropology at the Department of Human and Social Sciences at the Staff and Command College of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg. For my habilitation treatise on Cultural Change among the Karen, I am affiliated with the Department of Anthropology at the University of Hamburg. On occasion, I also lecture at the Anthropology Department at Humboldt University in Berlin.
