Biography
My research aims to reduce the prevalence and burden of psychological distress. There are three main directions. First, is work that develops and evaluates new treatments for both common mental disorders and for physical disorders that result in psychological distress. Second, is work that seeks to improve understanding of mechanisms underlying psychotherapy in order to facilitate the development of more efficient treatment paradigms. Third, is work that develops and evaluate models for delivering evidence-based treatments. This research involves engaging with a range of stakeholders, including consumers, carers, clinicians, service providers, health economists, and funders. An additional aim of my work is to support and nurture the next generation of clinicians and researchers.
